My Favorite Finds
What makes a cache a favorite? Sometimes it's the location. The hunt takes me to some place unexpected or beautiful. Sometimes it's the hide. The person who placed the cache went to special trouble to make it interesting or surprising. Sometimes it's just the story that goes along with the cache hunt. Yes, that means that occasionally the cache is a favorite because I did something stupid while looking for it.
As I put this page together I went back and looked over the list of all the caches I've found and tried to pick out about 10 that would fit. Well, 12 is close to 10 anyway. Besides the list is probably going to keep growing. I'll try to maintain it right around 10% of all the caches I've found . . or . . .maybe . . not found.
Big Pyle of Cache

This was the first cache we've found! Great one too, really enjoyed our visit. I took my 9 year old daughter, she was a big help. She took a pair of sunglasses, left two bouncy balls. I took the army men (they'll go on top of my monitor) left a cell phone booster antenna. Here's hoping it works for you!
CLYDE'S RE-HIDDEN CACHE

Daughter #1 and I found this at about 2:20 in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day for a hike, although she was pretty wore out by the time we got there (she's 9 and 9 year olds don't seem to know how to pace themselves). Great place to go and great hide. I've lived in this area all my life and had never been to this park, shame on me!
I took the globe paperweight and left a Geocaching window sticker (of my own design) and a lighthouse pin. My daughter took the little flashlight and left a McDonalds toy (french fry cellphone). I would have loved to take the CD (I've been looking for that one for a while now) but didn't have anything of equal value. Someone's in for a treat, though!
Everything is Relative

I was doing some sight seeing in Washington today after 3 days of nothing but meetings (good meetings though). I was glad to find this cache, what a neat place. I got a nice picture of myself enjoying the site. ;)

I was in Washington for the National Day of Prayer. Thankfully I got a chance to take in some sights and do some caching. Thanks for a great find at a truly humbling site.

A truly awesome place to be. I was in town for the National Day of Prayer and reading his inaugural address really put a great cap on a wonderful week.
God bless!

Natures Best Walk
May 31, 2002 by CYBret
This was the first time I've been Geocaching and met up with another Geocacher! And it's a good thing too, because we really needed the extra set of eyes. Thanks to Rcharlier and his brother who finally located the cache.
The cache was about 35' away from where it said it was (just as Jeepster's log said and Rcharlier's gpsr also said). I'd say the next visitor should record their waypoint and email it to the owner. Nice walk, though, and it was a great excuse to finally get me to take my daughter to the nature center. She loved it.
She took the sticker book and left some of those little sponge animals.
Siamese Pines

My first FIRST find. Also my first solo Geocache - I thought for a minute or two it would be my last!
Pretty quick find, but a good day and a nice trail. You might want to give people a little more information on your cache page about what they're getting themselves into, though the hint did help.
Took the lighter, left my signature Lighthouse Pin and a Pooh Bear.

Just A Walk in The Park

My daughter Megan and I took this cache on after a nice meal just down the road at the Avalon. Took a while to find the way into the park, but once we were there the GPS pretty much lead us right to it. The hint was a BIG help.
One mistake on our part, we ended up in the open field near the cache site. Not the way to go! Stay on the trails.
We left a Spider-man antenna topper, a rain ponch (started raining right after we left), and our signature lighthouse pin. Took one of your Geocaching buttons and the compass/keychain.
Also took our pictures with the camera. I'm the guy in the Geocaching.com hat and Megan is the girl with the dark and hair and black shirt.
BRUCE CACHE

This is the first cache my wife's come with me on. Did I mention she's almost 8 months pregnant?
When we opened the box we found it was full of ANTS. I suspect they were there because of the can of fish food. We dumped the cache out and cleaned it out as best we could.
Took the little Avon mirror and 3' tape (and the fish food, which I fed to the fish in the pond). Left a Lighthouse pin and a mini-biner.
This was a great hide and a great hike for my wife, thanks for placing it!

Too bad I missed the other cacher out there today . . could have used some help.
BRILLIANT!! This is what urban micro caches should be about! Brad, you've definitely set the standard high!

NUMBER 100!!!!
Today is the 1 year anniversary of the first time my daughter Megan and I went Geocaching. And today we went out to find my 100th cache (she's found several too and will start logging on her own account today).
Nice find in an interesting park. I wonder what it looks like when it's not covered in snow! Took one of Gigger's buttons because I seem to collect them and besides, I figured she should be some part of my 100th cache.
Left a lighthouse pin. I was going to leave a small fan that I picked up as my 100th find prize, but it wouldn't fit in the box. Oh well . . maybe 200.

First of all, let me say that if you're from the flatlands of Illinois like me, you might want to think twice about going for this one. And if you do, please don't go right before sundown.
We made it to the top, zeroed in on the coords and looked at everything even resembling the hint, but found no cache. With daylight fading fast we had to give up. I wouldn't want to say it's not there, give it a shot, you'll love the view!
Unfortunately, I brought the Southwest Quacker travelbug here from Indiana (and Florida) and we were planning on dropping him off. Maybe I'll hit another cache tomorrow and be able to take care of it.
